Mos Espa is one of the few places in the galaxy that allow the dangerous sport of Podracing. A high-speed, adrenaline-packed contest, Podracing is a favorite spectator pastime for many Tatooine residents. For participants, however, the races bring intense competition and danger. With combustible engines tearing over rocky terrain at high speeds, many racers crash and burn in a single competition. The Mos Espa course itself is the most dangerous of all courses, with terrifying drops and tortuous curves. At Jag Crag Gorge, racers must negotiate a twisting channel, then scream across high flats. At Metta Drop, they must pull out of the plunge and and level out before nose-diving into the rocks below. Contestants are even subject to potshots by sniping Tusken Raiders. Yet for those who emerge victorious, fame and fortune await. |
